Bio-energy for your future
Aquafin sludge source of renewable energy
Aquafin uses sludge from 4 million residents as a source of renewable energy and materials. Sludge dryers are being built in Roeselare and Beringen to dry the sludge using residual heat. The dried sludge is transported to a facility in Ghent, where it is converted into energy-rich steam for electricity and heat. This reduces the CO₂ footprint of both Aquafin and Arcelor Mittal.

ENERGY ANALYSIS
A good analysis is needed to arrive at a correct solution. This can range from a simple site visit with first-line advice to a detailed study in which the different options are evaluated.
COMBINED HEAT & POWER
Optimal energy conversion takes place via a local coupling of electricity generation and heat recovery, in short cogeneration.
BIOGAS
Fermenting biomass under anoxic conditions produces biogas. This biogas is rich in methane, at least 50%, making it a high-quality energy carrier.
BIOMASS
Biomass is simply everything that is green and grows on the earth. Biomass, however, has many aspects and can be solid, pasty or liquid, but is always capable of generating renewable energy.
GRIDCONNECTIONS & ENERGY DISTRIBUTION
In energy distribution, we make a distinction in the scale of the actual application of energy. This can be done on a large scale on the basis of central production, such as a power plant with distribution on the transmission network.
POWER 2 X – to CO2-neutral
Europe proposes a share of renewable energy for 32% in 2030 and climate neutrality by 2050. These are important and far-reaching objectives. To convert to climate neutrality requires a lot of planning and many years to complete, but requires re-thinking of all processes.
