CO2 is captured in microalgae through photosynthesis. The end product is the micro-algae itself.

The production of the micro-algae takes place in a closed photoreactor and under controlled conditions. Proviron has developed a patented reactor concept for this purpose with the support of IWT32. The ProviAPT (Proviron Advanced Photobioreactor Technology) is a flat plate reactor surrounded by a water buffer, made of thin plastic film. This system is over 8 meters long, and can be rolled out like an air mattress. The entire structure is held upright by the surrounding water buffer. The water also ensures that in bright sunshine the temperature does not get too high, which would cause the algae to die.

ABDE was responsible for the design and monitoring of the implementation of the heat network where the heat from the landfill gas engines is disconnected to heat the reactors. In addition, the service buildings, the office, the biogas plant and the water treatment plant are provided with heat. The total length of the heat network is 700m of underground and overhead piping.
